Nashua was named the most livable city in America in 1997 and in 1987 by Money Magazine. Nashua's unemployment is low, the quality of life is high and crime is down. Nashua offers consumers an excellent array of shopping centers and specialty shops. There are many community-oriented service clubs and organizations for youth and adults.

Nashua maintains an extensive Parks and Recreation Department, with varied activities for all age groups, including organized programs in volleyball, swimming, baseball, softball, basketball, softball, basketball, football, and tennis. There are 22 parks. The YMCA and the YWCA offer year round physical education programs, arts and crafts, and an Olympic size pool.
