New Castle is located on the coast of New Hampshire, along the border of Maine and just minutes away from Portsmouth. Only 0.8 square miles, New Castle is the smallest town in New Hampshire and is the only town made up completely of islands, one large island and several small ones. This quaint town was originally known as the "Great Island" and was chartered in 1679 as a township of Portsmouth and later incorporated in 1693.

New Castle is a very small, close-knit community with a population just over one thousand in the year 2001 and only 443 households. Home prices in New Castle range from $379,000 to $5 million. Wentworth by the Sea is New Castle's largest employer while most residents travel to other seacoast communities to work.

Wentworth has recently been renovated and was purchased by Marriott Hotel in the spring of 2003. Wentworth contains 161 rooms and suites with water views as well as a spa, restaurant and much more.
