The city of Nottingham, a small community just north of Rochester, is still rural at heart, although in the past decade it has grown considerably. With no large roads intersecting it though, it has remained a quiet little place, which suits most of the residents just fine. Commerce in Nottingham consists mainly of several small service industries, such as grocery stores, antique shops, and service stations, dispersed throughout the town. Bay Head Machinery Corporation and a custom stove fabricator are located on Route 4, as is a small trucking concern. A dollhouse manufacturer, a cabinetmaker and lumber mill are located along Route 156. Most people however commute to either Rochester, or even Concord. Most Nottingham homes sell for an average of $125,000 to $175,000. This will buy an, three-bedroom, one bath home with around 1,500 square feet. Historic homes will run higher than that, but Nottingham is definitely an affordable place to live. There is a small percentage of manufactured homes, and there are a few multi-family units, but they are few and far between, as Nottingham does not have its own downtown area. Discover for yourself this four season paradise. Spring and summer are filled with swimming, boating, canoeing, water sports, fishing, golf, tennis, biking and hiking and the many state parks that dot the area. Nottingham, with its close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean has plenty to do all year round, a fact that is not lost on the residents, including snorkeling, sunbathing, rock climbing, or just enjoying a peaceful walk along the beach. In the fall when the colors are spectacular, people come in from all over the world to see the foliage change from green to gold, rust, and copper. Autumn's foliage dazzles your eyes and excites your imagination. This colorful season is the perfect time to take in a country fair or experience many of our area's other attractions. The colors you see here will live in your memory long after winter's snow starts to fall. Winter has its own charms too, with the opportunity to go snowmobiling in the deep winter snow. Many New Yorkers have moved to this area because of its breathtaking beauty, and economy. But most of all, people move here for the peace and quiet and rural lifestyle this slice of America offers. The motto for New Hampshire is after all, "The road less traveled." Find homes for sale in Nottingham New Hampshire
