Englishtown, New Jersey

Population: 1,764
Located in Monmouth County

The earliest record we have of Englishtown is that James Johnston, an Englishman, owned property in the area in 1688. Sometime before 1730 the English family came to Monmouth County and purchased a large tract of fertile land which was named Englishtown after the family.

Today Englishtown is a city of 1,600 residents who work hard to maintain the beauty that first captured the heart of the English man. Families settle here because this is a family-friendly environment, with plenty for the kids to do and see within the town, and nearby.

Sanford Park is a popular place for the kids. They come to play football, soccer, baseball, or basketball, or just to play on the swings and slides. The running track is a great place to get fit, or relax under the trees.

Lake Weamaconk, a nearby lake was restored in 2002 to its former glory where boating, fishing, and picnicking attracted visitors from miles around. Why not come and enjoy Englishtown (Old Bridge) Auction? People come from miles around to spend a day at one of the state's largest auction and flea market. Come early Saturday or Sunday every weekend through October.

If you have a need for speed, come and check out the Englishtown (Old Bridge) Raceway Park. The legendary quarter-mile drag strip is less than two miles from town, and features some of the fastest car in America; some of the events include the summer nationals and numerous swap-meets. Come see Nitro-burning jet cars on Wednesdays and weekends.

There is a nice selection of single-family homes. For example, one can own a modest, three bedroom home with one bathroom starting at $137,000. A newer home with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with over two thousand square feet of luxurious living space would cost about $275,000.

This community offers quality of life, clean neighborhoods, and a strong sense of community pride. It is easy to see why Englishtown residents take pride in their community. Why not check out this scenic area for yourself and see how Englishtown can fit your needs.
