Spotswood is located in an area where the Matchaponix Creek meets the Manalapan Creek in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It is a small, friendly, suburban community, rich in history and tradition. On the register of historic places is Saint Peter's Episcopal Church. Although it was built in 1849, first services date back to 1703. In fact, Spotswood was first settled in 1685 by James Johnston.

The Spotswood of today is known for its active civic, religious, and veterans groups. It is especially proud of its Blue Ribbon Schools, intelligent students, and dedicated teachers. The borough is comprised of a very effective government, volunteer fire department, and volunteer rescue squad.

As you drive through the town you will see streets named after its ancestors. Familiar names such as DeVoe, Vliet, and Snowhill make up the signs, and even the elementary school bears the name Appleby. Spotswood continues to be a place where hometown values and pride are seen through its people.
