Washington Township, New Jersey is a scenic parcel of land ideally located, just under an hour east of Pennsylvania's Pocono region, approximately one hour west of Manhattan, and one and one-half hours north of Philadelphia.

A part of the Skylands Region, Washington offers a wealth of advantages to residents and businesses alike. Steeped in rich history, Washington has deep roots in the transportation industry in particular, and a strong carriage industry in the late 1800's/early 1900's.

Warren County is home to the most popular international confectionery manufacturer in the world, Masterfoods USA, makers of M&M's(r) Chocolate Candies and a host of other products. Known for their rural charm, many quaint antique and gift shops dot the landscape in and around Washington.

Due in large part to its rural roots, farming is still an important part of life here. More affordable than many other areas, Washington offers beautiful views, and a slower pace of life because of the rural feel. There are many housing opportunities in established neighborhoods, along private, country roads, and in newer, state-of-the-art housing developments and condominium/townhouse communities.

A great school district, with five high schools, one technical school, and many middle, elementary and nursery schools serve Washington. For those moving on to higher education, Centenary College, a four-year institution that offers associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees, and Warren County Community College, a two-year institution that offers associate's degrees and certificate programs, are two fine local choices.

Outdoor enthusiasts have a myriad of choices right here in the Washington area. Whether it's hiking, biking, boating, fishing, golfing, camping, ballooning or rock climbing, we have something for everyone.

Other unique "only in Warren County" outdoor opportunities include a visit to the Lakota Wolf Preserve in Knowlton Township or The Land of Make Believe family amusement and water park in Hope. Why not make a point to take a tour of Four Sisters Winery at Matarazzo Farms in Belvidere offers another way to enjoy nature's bounty.

Looking to learn something while you have some fun? The Pequest Trout and Fish Hatchery educate visitors on fish and the area's ecosystem. History buffs will enjoy a visit to Shippen Manor in Oxford, a public, county museum that was the former home to the ironmasters of the Oxford Furnace.

For a rural feel, nothing can beat Washington. If you’re looking for a place where you can still commute, nothing can beat Washington, in fact, nothing can beat this place!
