Corrales, New Mexico

Leaving the city limits of Albuquerque to the South, visitors to Corrales feel that they have entered a simpler time, a time when rural values and open spaces gave the soul time to breath. Farms, orchards and horse paddocks are scattered throughout the community, and to the East, across the bosque of the Rio Grande, stand the mighty Sandia Mountains.

Photographers and artists come to Corrales for it's magnificent views of ancient cottonwoods, the many examples of adobe Pueblo architecture both old and new, for the gardens and fields, and for the constantly changing play of the New Mexico light. It is a peaceful place, with interesting shops, world class restaurants and good people.

Tourists come to Corrales for the ambience of the Village, its peaceful Bed and Breakfasts, good food and interesting shopping. From a turquoise bracelet to a tostada compuesta, a dried red chile ristra or an eagle wheeling overhead, Corrales is full of interesting things.

Corrales is a thriving town with a new Administration Center, a busy Library with over 20,000 volumes which was built by volunteer labor from the Village, and a new Senior Center. It has a dedicated Historical Society which seeks to preserve the Village's past, beginning with its first known inhabitants over 900 years.
