Located on the eastern edge of Erie County, Alden provides a quaint rural atmosphere that is only minutes from today's modern conveniences. The Town of Alden is in the northeast part of Erie County. US Route 20 (Broadway) passes across the town. The Town of Alden was established in 1823, and contains a village also called Alden. Part of the town was later given up to form the Town of Marilla in 1853.
The Town of Alden's Recreation Department has been in existence for over 50 years. Today, youth and adult recreation / sports programs have grown to the extent where Alden currently has two Town Parks with soccer fields, baseball and softball diamonds, and concession stands.
