With a population of 28,574, the City of Auburn is the urban center of a rural region and the seat of Cayuga County government. Auburn is a community of comfortable, quiet neighborhoods, historic homes and a wide variety of cultural institutions.

American historical sites such as Harriet Tubman’s and William Seward's home are located in Auburn and some even say Abner Doubleday may have started baseball here.
