Although considered the 'Shopping Center' of the Five Towns, Cedarhurst still holds onto its quaint atmosphere while bursting with activity. In heart of the Five Towns, Cedarhurst is a popular business and commerce center. A downtown of surprisingly strong small shops make Cedarhurst a diverse shopping experience. Served by the Lawrence School District, Cedarhurst has excellent civil services and wonderfully maintained neighborhoods.

Cedarhurst is an incorporated village and it is also a neighborhood. Young mothers push their baby carriages into town to shop and to see other young mothers. Teenagers on school lunch breaks fill the local eateries and the sidewalks with good cheer. Seniors take health walks and window shop on Central Avenue where shoppers find exceptional fashions, jewelry, gift items and other fascinations. In the summer Cedarhurst Park Gazebo is the site of a popular weekly concert, and in the winter it is the site for holiday festivities. Twice a year the shopping district is closed to traffic for a shopping mall.

Parades for the homecoming queen, Veterans Day, and other occasions add to the small town community feeling, and the friendliness is felt wherever you go. The volunteer fire department is a place we find many of our heroes an a great training for many of our youngsters about what it means to contribute to your community.
