Located in Suffolk County

Dix Hills is a charming bedroom community located just over an hour away from New York City, and right in the middle of Long Island with a short drive to either the North or the South Shore. Dix Hills is a very close-knit, family oriented community.

The area features a wide variety of housing types, from modern estates to turn-of-the-century homes that reflect its lengthy history. The real estate market is made up almost exclusively of single-family homes. A select few condominiums and townhouses can be found beginning at around $75,000 and ranging up to $400,000. Single-family housing starts at just over $200,000 and runs up to $1,000,000 or more

Just minutes from Dix Hills is the South Shore which offers the excitement of seeing a NHL hockey game at the Nassau Coliseum, Triple Crown thoroughbred racing at Belmont Park, star-studded concerts at the Westbury Music Fair and Jones Beach open-air theater. In fact, the South Shore is Long Island's spectator sports and entertainment hub.

Two of the most popular and well-known destinations are the world-famous Jones Beach state Park, a six-mile beach and 2,4000-acre playground and Fire Island, a barrier beach island designated as a National Seashore replete with a wildlife preserve and a restored 138-year-old lighthouse. Only 32 miles long, Fire Island is accessible only by passenger ferry and is home to 17 small summer communities.

With four distinct seasons, Dix Hills is not lacking in entertainment for people of all ages. Winter offers incredible beauty and peace that invites exhilarating activities such as skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing, or the cozy relaxation of enjoying a good book by a fireplace.

Dix Hills retains a sense of the quaintness that drew so many people to it initially. Now more suburban in general, it is still small enough to make everyone feel like they know everyone else here.
