Dobbs Ferry is a quaint village full of breath-taking views of the lower Hudson River and many historic homes. Incorporated in 1879 with an area of 2.5 square miles, Dobbs Ferry was named after Jan Dobbs, whose family operated a ferry service across the Hudson River in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Today Dobbs Ferry has its own Public Library and public schools to include one elementary school, one middle school and one high school, with a total enrollment of 1,341. Recreation opportunities include concerts and programs by the professional musical theater, Philharmonia Virtuosi, hiking on the Old Croton Aqueduct Trailway, shopping in a variety of small stores and dining in fine restaurants.
