Kings Park, New York
Population: 18,000
Located in Suffolk County
Kings Park is graced with breathtaking views of the Long Island Sound and a quaint Main Street with businesses ideal for family shopping trips and leisurely strolls. Steeped in American history, the North Shore of Long Island is also known as the "Heritage Trail," defined by what was formerly known as "Knight's Highway," now Route 25A.
This region of the Island retains the character of years gone by, and much has been preserved-parts dating back to colonial times, the Revolutionary War era and the earliest days of the nation, when President George Washington traveled here in 1790.
In the downtown area of Kings Park, you'll find the new antique stores, hobby shop and sweet shop. We have wonderful restaurants, taverns, and sandwich shops. Or you might be interested in the hardware stores, florists, garden centers or fishing tackle shop.
And for fun, try canoeing or kayaking down the Nissequogue River, hiking in one of the many parks, and fishing, boating or swimming off the shores of the island. If you need it, or want it, Kings Park has it!
The Kings Park Chamber of Commerce is currently working on building a children's playground on Main Street and a Hike and Bike path from Main Street to the nearby shore of the Long Island Sound.
Kings Park is also home to Sunken Meadow Park and Golf Course. The golf course ranks third among Long Island's public golf courses in number of rounds played. Last spring the shoreline was opened to the public for the first time, as the Nissequogue River State Park allowed visitors through the heart of Kings Park.
Kings Bay is part of the rich heritage of the North Shore, which includes quaint bays, harbors and villages on Long Island Sound. Kings Park sounds and is, just like a paradise - the name "Island" conjures up a certain picture in a person's imagination, and Kings Park not only meets that picture, it exceeds it! For peace of mind, tranquility of soul and stillness of heart, Kings Park is the place to live!
