The village of Northport, located on the East Side of Northport Harbor is quietly tucked among the woods and water inlets of the Long Island Sound.
Filled with history, Northport has been an incorporated village since 1894 complete with its own mayor, board of trustees and police department. The village itself dates back to the 17th century, when it was known as Cow Harbor. Today this delightful community still celebrates this tradition with the Cow Harbor Day festival and a nationally recognized 10K run through the hilly village streets.
Small and quaint with a population of only 7,500, Northport provides the ambiance of yesteryear. Its main street, which still has the original trolley tracks running down the center, is lined with many antique stores, specialty shops and fine restaurants.
