An open-space preservation program has given Perinton one of the best park systems in Western New York. In 1996, the town was named one of the Top Ten Trail Towns in the country by the American Hiking Society.

Perinton is a booming community, according to the Genesee-Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council, which predicts the town will gain more people than any other town in the region by the year 2030. Perinton's greatest recent achievement is the completion of its new community center on Turk Hill Road. The center has allowed the town to offer more recreational programs, provide a central meeting pace for seniors and a focal point in the community.
