Burlington is a vibrant and growing city in Alamance County/Guilford County along the I-40/85 corridor which connects the Piedmont Triad and Triangle regions. Increasingly popular with commuters and retirees, the area boasts a relaxed pace of living with all the amenities of history, culture, good schools, shopping and local attractions. The city's origins date from the 1850's when the railroad established a repair facility in the area called Company Shops. The anchor for downtown Burlington remains the Depot, the home of the Burlington Downtown Corporation.
