Emerald Isle is "the jewel" of an area known as THE CRYSTAL COAST. Located on the western end of an island that faces south toward the Atlantic Ocean. On the north side, the island is bordered by Bogue Sound with its spectacular sunsets and mysterious marshes that cradle our abundant wild life.
The beaches are pristine, unspoiled and bathed in sunlight all through the day. They created the perfect environment for a family to get in touch with nature and with each other.
Emerald Isle is a sanctuary for some very special sea creatures, such as, the loggerhead turtle and the green sea turtle. The island is also home to many rare waterfowl, deer and numerous tiny critters. You can also see the playful porpoise from the shore or playing around your boat.
All of Carteret County is rich in history. Pirates, Revolutionary war battles, shipping and boat building. The Barrier Islands are home to wild ponies that have adapted to life surrounded by water since finding safe haven from ship wrecks off the islands several centuries ago.
