Known throughout the world as "Home of the Airborne" Fort Bragg functions as one of the U.S. Army's biggest and busiest installations. Ft. Bragg has over 43.000 soldiers plus civilian employees and their families. It is headquarters for the XVIII Airborne Corps, 82nd Airborne and the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. Ft. Bragg boasts spacious training area and top-notch schools which provide training of the finest soldiers in the world. They are capable of worldwide deployment at a moments notice. Ft. Bragg also has a large medical center which provides a variety of medical services. Fort Bragg expects to add thousands of people to the Fayetteville area by 2011 due to the Base Closure and Realignment plan. Fort Bragg is also upgrading it training ranges where soldiers practice shooting. New building will have fully automated targets and audio and video to help soldiers improve their performance. Despite security at Fort Bragg, civilians can go on post to watch parachute jumps; if you are a motorist without a Department of Defense car decal, your car will be searched (be prepared).
