Population: 11,567 Located in Mecklenburg County
Mint Hill lies in a rural corner of Mecklenburg County covering approximately 20 square miles along the eastern edge of the county. Until recently Mint Hill had no municipal water and sewer systems in most sections which ensured that it remained predominately single family on large lots. Growth was relatively slow compared to the rest of the Charlotte area. Mint Hill is a great place for those seeking small town living with a peaceful rural flavor. Many citizens are lifelong residents and the sense of community and family ties is very strong. While Mint Hill offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life, it is very accessible to Charlotte's employment centers and amenities. Completion of I-485 around the town by 2001 will increase the town's accessibility. Mint Hill has a number of pretty residential neighborhoods, most of which have acre lots. Several golf course communities are located within the town. Home prices range from modest to upscale; ages of homes from 20 to 30 years to new construction. Community shopping facilities are found in several business nodes within the town. Shopping malls and power shopping centers are just 10 to 15 minutes away. When considering a move to the Charlotte area, consider the beautiful rolling county side of Mint Hill where town meets country.
