North Carolina Real Estate & Relocation Guide
Smithfield, North Carolina
Population: 11,510
Located in Johnston County
Incorporated in 1777, our community is one of the oldest towns in North Carolina. It was chartered during the inaugural session of the General Assembly created by the State Constitution of 1776. An act of the Assembly enabled John Smith Jr. to fulfill his wish to create a town on the east side of the Neuse River, on land he had acquired from his father in 1762. The founder of Smithfield agreed to provide 100 acres for laying off lots, streets, and alleys. An additional 50 acres was granted for "Town Commons". You are invited to return often to this the County Seat of Johnston County for frequent additions, changes and important announcements. We are pleased to list Smithfield in the us70east Internet project.
All around town doors are open and we invite you to see our lovely town and learn of the many
benefits of community life in Smithfield.
