From its founding in 1798 Austintown has grown from a farming community to an urban community, but with strong rural roots. The 2 oldest township buildings consist of the Austin Log Cabin, built about 1814, and The Strock Stone House, built in 1830.

Austintown has become more built up and is now considered a part of the greater Youngstown area. But don't let its proximity to Youngstown fool you; this is a community that offers verdant fields, rolling meadows and wonderful homesteads!
