Ohio Real Estate & Relocation Guide
Belpre, Ohio
Population: 6,660
Located in Washington County
Belpre is home to many of Washington County's largest industries. Some are Kraton Polymers, Degussa Corp. and Nova Chemicals. It also supports businesses such as Lee Middleton Dolls. It's a popular spot for business and industry because of its location on the Ohio River, directly across from Parkersburg, W.Va., and because it is served by two main routes, Ohio 7 and U.S. 50. A bypass to Interstate 77 at Parkersburg is being developed.
The city is served by the Belpre Chamber of Commerce and also is home to the Belpre Senior Citizens Center. Its annual homecoming is celebrated each August. Belpre also puts on its Apple Butter Festival each fall, and it is well known for its holiday lights and tour of homes at Christmas. Efforts to develop the city's riverfront property are also in the works.
The Belpre City Schools district includes Belpre High School, Belpre Middle School, Belpre Elementary School and Stone Elementary School. Emergency services are provided by a full-time police department and volunteer fire department. It is the only city in Washington County currently equipped with a 911 emergency system.
