Jackson Township, Ohio

This township was formed in 1815 and named in honor of General Andrew Jackson. Schools and churches quickly followed, and by the 1820's taverns, inns and general stores opened for business.

Early industries included farming and grist mills. The township remained a rural area until the end of World War II, when new allotments were built to accommodate the housing needs of returning veterans and their families. In the years between 1970 and 1995, the population of Jackson Township grew by more than 50 percent, from about 20,000 to over 33,000 residents.

Today Jackson Township has a population of approximately 6,184 and covers about 7.5 square miles. Supporting Jackson's economy are manufacturing and retail trade industries.

The wonderful township of Jackson has easy access all around and is somewhat secluded in its own way to keep it a very peaceful community. The area is full of great restaurants and shops with Belden Village Mall right down the Street. Jackson is one of the most gorgeous townships in Ohio.
