Mentor, Ohio From a sleepy start as 'Rose Capital', Mentor has bloomed into a prime place to live and do business," said Cleveland Magazine in June 1995. Newer residential subdivisions, one of the largest shopping malls in the world (Great Lakes Mall) and an ever expanding industrial and manufacturing complex make Mentor a sought after place to live. Over 2000 acres of residential land are still available and older homes blend attractively throughout the lake-oriented community. Apartments and condominiums are in excellent supply. Mentor is bordered on the north by Lake Erie and Mentor State Park's beach has the longest shoreline of any state park (over 1 mile). Many public and private marinas exist for the boating enthusiast. The city is 21st in Ohio in total population and 8th in retail sales. Many activities provided for young and old alike. There are 3 city swimming pools and an indoor ice skating arena. Mentor's summer program provides transportation to and from the pool. Little league teams are available for girls and boys. A new Senior Citizen building provides a beautiful place for their many activities. In addition to low unemployment and business vacancy rates, "the city of choice" also is among the best region when it comes to housing. Mentor is consistently at the top among Northeast Ohio Regional Multiple Listing Service communities in homes sold and sales volume. Sales volume jumped over 10 million in the last year. Mentor's award winning school system has gained national recognition and is another reason families with school age children call Mentor their home. |
