North Royalton is a city located on the southern edge of Cuyahoga County, and was originally part of Royalton Township, which was created in 1818.
In the 19th century, Royalton was a community of farmers. Many of the mid-19th-century farmhouses still stand, a testament to the dedication of today's homeowners. It became known as a dairy town, attracting a thriving business from surrounding communities In 1880, Royalton Township was renamed North Royalton. In 1927 the township was incorporated as the village of North Royalton, and was incorporated as a city in 1961.
Today the town is a booming mixture of residential and industrial, with over 17,000 calling the area home. With the changes from agriculture to town, North Royalton has undergone several changes, the biggest been in the area of housing. Although there are many of the original farmhouses, new construction has crept into the town, changing the face of the town forever. From post WWII homes, to homes still under construction, there is a style to suit everyone. Most homes in the town sell for less than $120,000. Farm homes that have undergone renovation will sell for higher than that; and some new construction is also more expensive.
The town has made the children a priority, and they now have three elementary schools and one high school. These schools have done an excellent job on focusing on both the short-term and the long-term needs of the students, and have a good success rate with their pupils. North Royalton boasts 30 acres of city parks, and recreational facilities, which include a tennis court, baseball and soccer fields, and even a fishing pond! With the four seasons in force here, the fishing pond is popular both in the summer and the winter. North Royalton's excellent school system and a sense of community combined with the most beautiful terrain in Northeast Ohio makes the city a most desirable place to live, work and raise a family.
