Sandusky is one of Ohio's most popular tourist destinations. The city is home to the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, an amusement park and entertainment management company, as well as its flagship amusement park, Cedar Point. Cedar Point is a 364 acre amusement park located in Sandusky, on a narrow peninsula jutting into Lake Erie. It is one of the world's largest amusement parks (by ride count) with 69 rides and currently holds the world record for most roller coasters with 17, one of them being the world's second tallest and second fastest roller coaster, Top Thrill Dragster. The park also has a mile-long white sand beach, two water parks (Soak City and Castaway Bay), two marinas, several hotels, and "Challenge Park" featuring attractions such as go-karts and miniature golf. Known as "America's Roller Coast", Cedar Point has been voted "Best Amusement Park in the World" by Amusement Today for the past nine years.

Perkins Township is part of the Sandusky metropolitan area, housing numerous large, commercialized and tourist-related businesses, due, in large part, to the nearby Cedar Point amusement park. With an increase in tourism, several prominent companies have also recently built large indoor/outdoor waterpark facilities, bolstering the area's vital tourism industry. In addition, the Sandusky Mall and Sandusky Speedway lie in Perkins Township. Located within Perkins Township, you'll find Angel's Path, featuring distinctive and beautiful homes, with convenient access to the highway and turnpike, and just minutes from Plum Brook Country Club, Osborn Park, Route 250, and Erie County's shopping and restaurant district.

Johnson's Island was the site of a prisoner-of-war camp for Confederate officers captured during the American Civil War. The 300-acre island is in Sandusky Bay, located on the coast of Lake Erie, 3 miles from the city of Sandusky, Ohio. Johnson?s Island was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1990. A causeway now connects it with the mainland. Over the years, both year-round and seasonal homes have been built on Johnson's Island, especially around its perimeter. A causeway and bridge now connect the Johnson's Island to Marblehead Peninsula; the island is accessible to the public for a small fee.
