Tiffin, Ohio
Population: 18,135
Located in Seneca County
Tiffin with a population of 18,135 and a land area of 6.5 square miles is located in the county of Seneca. About 46 miles from Toledo Tiffin is divided by the Sandusky River with the Washing Street Bridge connecting the city.
Tiffin is rich in history, originally being two different towns, Fort Ball on the northern side of the Sandusky River and Tiffin on the southern side. In 1833 an effort to join the two cities was put into place by building a wooden bridge across the Sandusky river. Later that fall a heavy rain flooded the Sandusky and destroyed the bridge. The city decided to replace the destroyed structure with a stronger bridge the following summer and the bridge is the Washington Street Bridge of today. In 1850 Fort Ball was incorporated into the city of Tiffin on March 23rd.
Tiffin is a town with deep roots and pleasant people. We're proud of both our heritage and our hospitality. Whether you're coming here to visit or to settle, we extend this word of welcome. Ours is a town of character, one that has not forgotten the spirit of its pioneer families, yet one that continues to grow and prosper in our own special corner of northwestern Ohio.
