The Inland Seas Maritime Museum is operated by the Great Lakes Historical Society. It is located at the north end of Main St. by Lake Erie. The Great lakes Historic Society was founded in 1944 to record, preserve, and interpret the maritime history of the Great Lakes, the largest body of fresh water in the world. It is the oldest and largest organization exclusively devoted to the story of the "Inland Seas" of North America. The Inland Seas Maritime Museum of the Great Lakes Historical Society, established in 1953, is housed in the former Wakefield Mansion, known as Harbor View. The mansion was built in 1909. There is also a modern addition.

The museum is a great place to experience the Great Lakes: dive a shipwreck, steer a 464' freighter, activate a lighthouse lens, operate a steam engine & view replicas of the many ships of the Great Lakes.

The Main St. Beach is next to the Inland Seas Maritime Museum, at the north end of Main St. Let the cool waters of Lake Erie splash on your feet as you stroll on the sandy beach. Stay awhile and watch a beautiful sunset over the lake at Main Street Beach.

Victory Park is located at the northeast corner of Main St. and Ohio St. The Park was formerly referred to as "The Village Green" where people came to relax and meet with friends and neighbors. In 1999, Clarence and Elizabeth Phillips donated the funds needed to erect the Gazebo that is now located in the park. The Vermilion Lions Club donated the man power to erect the Gazebo. Today we enjoy "The Concerts in the Park" at the Gazebo on Sunday evenings in July and August. (See events calendar for details). The Gazebo has become very popular for weddings. A beautiful enhancement for Victory Park ("The Village Green") is the Rose Gardens planted in 1976 which are maintained by a volunteer family.
