The Village, Oklahoma

Population: 10,157
Located in Oklahoma County

The communities of The Village and Nichols Hills are located within the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. However, while they are within easy reach of this area's immense resources, both retain the unique charm and rich heritage out of which they were born.

There is an interesting political battle of sorts that took place as boundary lines for these communities were in near constant dispute in the 1950's:

"The annexation battles of the 1950's and early 1960's gave rise to a number of interesting disputes between Oklahoma City and The Village. Residents of The Village rose up in arms in 1952 in a dispute with Oklahoma City over law enforcement jurisdiction. Apparently, Oklahoma City officers had on occasion made traffic stops within the corporate limits of The Village. Mayor John Chiaf vowed to "stop this kidnapping of our citizens" even if it meant arresting Oklahoma City policemen. The Oklahoma City Police Chief retorted "that can work two ways". A truce was finally declared and the streets were once again "safe" for motorists in The Village."

Regardless of these past disputes, The Village and Nichols Hills have come forth as desirable communities offering residents and visitors alike with an abundance of culture and entertainment.

The area is serviced by several major transportation routes, most notably I-44 and I-35.
