Welcome to Bandon, Oregon!

Call it Bandon, or call it Bandon-by-the-Sea. Our seacoast town will delight you with its charm, its scenic beauty, its rich opportunities for recreation and relaxation, and its warmth shown you by its people. It is home to two of the world's premier golf courses, and for all that it has to offer, it remains charmingly undiscovered and unspoiled. The people who live here (population 2900 or so) love it, and each year, first-time visitors discover just why. We hope you will walk along the paths of this website to discover it for yourself.

The Bandon Lighthouse - officially the Coquille River Lighthouse - was built in 1896, decommissioned in 1939, and is the subject of a major restoration effort today. Long the symbol of the Bandon community, the light sits at the mouth of the Coquille River, where it has weathered magnificent storms, guided mariners in and out of Bandon, over the treacherous Bandon Bar, and now sits as a proud reminder of Bandon's commercial maritime past.

The Bandon Lighthouse is popular with visitors and residents alike. It is reached through Bullard's Beach State Park, the entrance of which is just past the north end of the Coquille River bridge on U.S. 101. In Summer, volunteers staffing the lighthouse information center and gift shop answer questions, describe life as a lighthouse keeper, and take visitors to the top of the tower. In Winter, powerful storms can bash into the lighthouse as they have done for more than 100 years. Some storms bring tons of logs onto the beach or even into the spacious parking lot adjacent to the lighthouse.
