Klamath Community College is Oregon's newest institution of higher education, founded in 1996, and is designed and developed for the twenty-first century.
Art & Culture The 800-seat Ross Ragland Theater hosts performers of various musical genres from around the world, as well as touring and local plays. A 30-year-old theatrical troupe, the Linkville Players, produces four plays and a musical each year.
The Klamath Chorale, Klamath Symphony, Klamath Art Association, and many other cultural groups all have seasonal performances and shows at various locations. Local history and traditions can be found on display at several local museums, as well as in contemporary events such as the Applegate Trail Rendezvous and annual Pow-Wows. Favell Museum of Western Art and Indian Artifacts, is acclaimed as one of the very finest museums anywhere.
Recreation Klamath Falls is home to many outdoor winter and summer activities. The nearby Running Y Ranch Resort, features a golf course designed by Arnold Palmer. There's the Bill Collier Community Ice Arena, trailriding, and spectacular views of Upper Klamath Lake, the largest natural lake in the Pacific Northwest. There is also a canoe trail through the wildlife refuge at Rocky Point. From class 4 white water rafting on the Klamath River to spelunking in the Lava Beds National Park, the region boasts landscapes, climates, and activities for you and your family that are dramatically varied.
Since Klamath Falls is located on the Pacific Flyway, large numbers of waterfowl and raptors are seen at all times of the year. The largest concentration of Bald Eagles in the lower 48 winter in Bear Valley, just 10 miles west of Klamath Falls, near Keno, and the American White Pelican shows in great numbers in summer.
Crater Lake National Park is 50 miles north of Klamath Falls and the 33 mile rim drive circumnavigating the lake is a favorite of cyclists. Winter cross country skiing in the park is also very popular. The more than mile high Crater Lake Marathon is an annual event.
