It is located at 3,077 feet above sea level and has a slightly warmer climate than the rest of Deschutes County with a mean annual precipitation of only 8.64 inches, and numerous clear, lovely sunny days throughout the year. Agriculture plays a larger roll in the Redmond area than is the southern portion of the county. The largest, most modern and recent major fairgrounds in the seven western states are located in Redmond, where large national Motor Coach rallies, major rodeos, nation entertainer perform and exhibition events of all type take place. Redmond also had the Community foresight to acquire and establish one of the largest industrial parks in state, with over 1,000 acres, which has facilitated the relocation of many expanding companies. Even though Redmond has its own special identify, many people choose to live in Redmond and work in Bend.
