The City of Scappoose is the home to some 5,200 people and lies between the Columbia River and mountainous hillsides, approximately 20 miles North of Portland on State Highway 30.

Historically, Scappoose was a hub for traders in the 1700's and has evolved into an agricultural and bedroom community to today.

Scappoose is perfectly situated in the valley of the Columbia River, and from the town you can see Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Hood! This is indeed a lovely area in which to live. The Scappoose Airpark boasts the longest and most active, "non-towered" airport in the Sate of Oregon, and it is the fastest growing in the Pacific Northwest! It also has a large amount of land that can be developed as the city continues to grow.

Scappoose has a temperate climate with moderately warm summers and wet, mild winters. If you like rain, then you'll consider this paradise! The average annual precipitation is slightly less than 50 inches. Snow or freezing weather is rare.
