The community has only 2,300 residents, but is fortunate to have many of the same amenities usually available to communities many times their size. The community celebrates several events throughout the year. One of the most popular is the annual Salmon Barbecue. Also very popular is the wildflower show held annually on the first weekend of May.

Located on the Rogue Umpqua Scenic Byway, Shady Cove is the nearest 'full service' community off I-5 to Oregon's only national park, Crater Lake National Park, which is less than an hour's drive north.
Shady Cove is the fastest growing business area in the Upper Rogue featuring a variety of small, friendly shops and facilities attracting small to medium sized corporate retreats.
