Residents participate in a community policing program with Palmer Township?s professional police department to increase the safety and quality of neighborhoods. Residents also make up the volunteer fire department and most volunteer members hold certification from the state. The department has two very well equipped stations and focuses on prevention, training, and emergencies.

The recreational areas and programs offered by Palmer Township provide fun for all ages. Children ages 5 to 15 years old are welcome to participate in the children?s park programs which offer children the opportunity to create arts and crafts, compete in tournaments, play games or go on field trips. There are also a variety of sports programs for children of all ages.

The twelve community parks are equipped with softball fields, volleyball courts, soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, batting cages, shuffleboard courts, a sledding hill, a football field, pavilions, picnic tables, children?s play equipment, restrooms, an adult swimming pool and a baby pool, There is also a fishing pier along the creek.

The incredible eight miles of peaceful trails along the creek have been a favorite feature of Palmer Township residents of all ages. This treasured trail can be used for bicycling, rollerblading and jogging enthusiasts and will be growing an additional three miles long!

Palmer Township will be welcoming a new community center. On June 29, 2003, the plans were announced for the 36,000 square feet community center to be located on 35 acres adjacent to the existing athletic complex. The land for the community center was donated by a resident and the funds are being raised by the community. Some potential activities and classes include dancing, a youth theater, organized sports, health education, and aerobics.
