Like so many American towns and cities, Phoenixville owes its growth to its waterways. It is not only situated on the broad Schuylkill River, a historic thoroughfare to native Americans and early settlers alike, but it is bisected by fast-flowing French Creek, which was quickly harnessed for water power. In addition to Valley Forge attractions, Historical Home Tours, Canal Day,
Civil War Reenactments, and many more, you'll be no more than 45 minutes from Philadelphia.

A few area attractions include: Bucks County's New Hope and French Creek, the Brandywines Valley's Longwood Gardens, Lancaster, and the ever popular Reading Outlets. Drive through the countryside to see some of the famous covered bridges and historical architecture, or stop at historical Yellow Springs. Go to a play, go hike, get a bite to eat, skate or bike along the river at the Betzwood Bike Path, or finally, stay in one of Brunswick's quaint Bed & Breakfast hotels.

Today, Phoenixville has become the medical center of Northern Chester County and has an exceptional hospital. The Phoenixville Hospital is part of the University of Pennsylvania Healthcare System. Phoenixville's population has grown to 15,000 and residents still enjoy the countryside and suburban lifestyle, but with the amenities of a new million-dollar YMCA facility.

There is so much to do in this diverse countryside. Come check it out for yourself!
