Whitemarsh Township is a community of approximately 15,000 residents located in Montgomery County, just outside of Philadelphia. This is a city that is proud of its history and rightly so! Whitemarsh Memorial Park carries the following plaque: "George Washington's command marched through the driving snow for an entire week from their position at Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania to Valley Forge."
This is just a small part of the history Whitemarsh Township shares with the Valley Forge region. It is also one reason why the town has grown over the ages. Another reason is its proximity to Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love! And once you?ve visited Philadelphia, you will fall in love!
Whitemarsh, like the rest of this area of the country experiences four distinct seasons, winter blankets the county in a cover of snow, crisscrossed by the imprints of skis. Summer comes none too soon with sizzling, sultry weather, where kids are happy to find a sprinkler to play under; and fall brings with it a host of wonderful outdoor activities from apple picking to taste testing the latest cider.
Home owners are very proud of their lovely homes, and in going through the neighborhood it is easy to see where they get their sense of pride. Homes here are well established, on wide streets with mature trees that look great no matter the season. Homes here are a little more expensive than those found in other parts of the greater Philadelphia area, but the history of the neighborhood and the age of the homes accounts for a lot of that.
Schools and education top the list of things residents are most proud of in Whitemarsh Township. Many businesses make sure the schools remain top-notch and that the students have state-of-the-art technology and the best teachers. As a result, the education system here is unparalleled.
This community is built on history, and preserving it for future generations is a way of life. And yet, through all the growth and development, Hummelstown has preserved a sense of small town community and values all its people.
