Bluffton, South Carolina

Bluffton is one of the fastest growing communities in the south east segment of South Carolina. Located in what was the King's grant to Lord Colleton, this place has a rich and interesting history.

Situated on the "High Bluff" overlooking the May River, and just a stone's throw from the world famous Hilton Head Island, Bluffton was the summer place for many plantation families looking to escape the heat, insects and malaria of the "Low Country".

Today Bluffton stands strong, and with its lovely antebellum homes and churches. Many of the original homes are owned by the third and fourth generation, and now are interspersed with newer homes, newer families and now scholars, artists, and business people from around the world. An increasing number of people who work in Savannah, Beaufort and Hilton Head Island choose to live in Bluffton, drawn not only by the river, and weather, but because of the strong sense of community.

There are many homes to choose from here, as well as apartments, mobile homes, modular homes, duplexes, estate homes and single-family homes. Several of the homes are built on golf courses, and offer exclusive benefits. South Pointe is one of these communities, with 55 homes built on 18 acres with panoramic golf, marshes, or lagoon views from every homesite.

Moss Creek Plantation is another such place. This private community has river, marsh or wooded views, along with a spectacular gold course, a tennis club, a community pool, playground and park.

Homes here run the gamut in pricing too, with a three bedroom, one bath home renting for as little as $800 a month, or can be bought for $100,000. Newer developments tend to run a little higher, with most homes starting at $120,000. Land can also be bought, and runs in price from $45,000 to $85,000 depending on location and size.

Looking for something to do is a never-ending pleasure! Bluffton has so much to offer, from golf to tennis, to hiking, to swimming, and then just moments away is the famed Hilton Head Island, pleasure island of the Carolina's! With all this on display, is it any wonder that Bluffton has become such a great place to live and work?

Climate, beaches, affordable, and spacious housing, wonderful schools, great people - Bluffton has it all, and is waiting for you to come and be a part of this ever-growing town.
