Sherwood is a rapidly growing community of 23,100 people located just a few miles north of the capitol City of Little Rock. Sherwood is one of the most easily accessible communities in the Central Arkansas region. Rated recently by the Wall Street Journal as one of the ten best cities in the United States in which to live, Sherwood offers a hometown atmosphere while conveniently located to the entertainment and amenities of a larger metropolitan area.
There are several recreational opportunities year-round; from the spring and summer sports leagues for all ages, fishing and swimming, pancake breakfasts, fish fries, potluck luncheons, the Bill Harmon Recreation Center, Sherwood Fest, the Halloween festival, and Christmas Parade there's always something happening here.
Sherwood is home to several regional and national baseball and softball league tournaments through the spring and summer each year. The Sports Complex is home as well to Middle School and High School baseball games, and soccer leagues for kids so there's always an opportunity for a family night out at the ballpark.
Our seventeen community parks and recreational facilities are a great resource for the City, offering our residents and visitors walking and running tracks, playgrounds, pools, tennis courts, and fishing in some of the prettiest lakes in the Central Arkansas area. The Bill Harmon Recreation Center is also available for residents and visitors to use. With a gymnasium, walking track, Olympic-sized pool, and exercise equipment, it's a great place to join friends for a brisk workout.
Most important is the quality of life. It is hard to decide which aspects of Sherwood residents appreciate most - the seventeen city parks, the recreation and youth centers, the safe, family-friendly neighborhoods. In fact, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette recently acknowledged Sherwood as having the lowest crime rate in Pulaski County. Sherwood residents can also choose from a number of top-quality private or public schools.
Then there is the great location. Quick access to area attractions such as the events at the Little Rock Zoo, the concerts at Alltel Arena, and Razorbacks and Travelers games at Ray Winder Field put an end to long commutes. We are ten minutes from downtown Little Rock and its governmental and financial districts. Being in the center of Arkansas means that you can take day trips to explore why they call us the Natural State.
