Sedalia is the home of the Missouri State Fair held each August for ten days. The fairgrounds facilities are used year-round for horse shows, rodeos, concerts, exhibitions etc. The community supports youth oriented events, such as soccer, baseball, volleyball, football, etc. A two-year junior college is located here and is widely respected throughout the academic field. We also have a masters program available through William Woods College. Sedalia is only minutes from a four-year university, CMSU, and only 1-hour from the University of Columbia. Sedalia boasts many large manufacturing plants. Our area is also noted for the Center for Human Services, which aids all handicapped persons in the area as well as the sheltered workshop for employing handicapped patrons.
