Located just minutes from the Illinois border, the town of Beloit is a place where yesterday and tomorrow merge. Historic remnants of Beloit's birth and growth dot the town amid signs of growth. One of the most visible landmarks in town is Beloit College, known as the "Yale of the Midwest". This private, four-year college was founded in 1846 and has the distinction of being Wisconsin's oldest college in continuous service. The campus area is rich in history, as Indian burial grounds and colonial-style buildings can be found throughout.
