While this area is a major manufacturing and industrial center in Walworth County, the agricultural industry has always been an integral part of the Delavan. Boasting award-winning beef and cattle farms, the town is a major food producer in this region. The public school system in Delavan is among the best in the state, enrolling 2,400 students. Three elementary schools, one middle school and a high school comprise the public district, while three parochial schools provide Christian-centered educations to 450 students. Higher education is very accessible with several colleges and universities within easy driving distance from Delavan. Delavan is one of the most popular resort areas in the state of Wisconsin, with over 100 acres of parks and over 2 miles of waterways that wind through town. In addition to the water sports, golfing, and horseback riding offered at local parks the city recreation department provides several youth and adult sports leagues.
