Delavan is home to over 200 businesses, including Ajay Leisure Products, Andes Candies, and Outboard Marine Corporation. While this area is a major manufacturing and industrial center in Walworth County, the agricultural industry has always been an integral part of the Delavan. Boasting award-winning beef and cattle farms, the town is a major food producer in this region.

The public school system in Delavan is among the best in the state, enrolling 2,400 students. Three elementary schools, one middle school and a high school comprise the public district, while three parochial schools provide Christian-centered educations to 450 students. Higher education is very accessible with several colleges and universities within easy driving distance from Delavan.
