Paddock Lake, Wisconsin
Just west of Kenosha, and north of Illinois, is the city of Paddock Lake. This city is built around a lake, and is actually contained within the city limits of Salem, Wisconsin. So it is a city within a city, and shares the school district with Salem. New construction is underway as the area is increasing rapidly for a number of good reasons - lakes, lakes and lakes! Education is also excellent here, and this is one of the safest regions in the country. It is not unusual to see people walking their dogs on one of the many walking trails at midnight. Paddock Lake, Trevor and Salem all share a school district, because the three towns together comprise 11,000 people. The schools implement the latest technologies and the teachers are wonderful. There are only a small number of children in each classroom, which makes one-on-one learning a reality. For families who love to be together there is plenty to do - whether it is a soccer match to cheer on, or a Little League ballgame to watch, there is something for the kids and adults to do all year round! This area is becoming so popular because of the short commute to Kenosha, only 20 minutes to the east. Some even commute to Chicago, although that is an hour or more drive from Paddock Lake. Paddock Lake feels like a refuge though, after being in the rat race all day. The homes here are very affordable, with the average three bedroom, two bath home selling for $136,000. Many of these homes are built on large lots, and many of them have walking paths in front or behind them. There are also many retention ponds in the area, which means wildlife stays close by. There is nothing better than looking out on a snowy day and seeing tracks from some wild animal who is taking refuge near the ponds. If you like fishing and hunting, you will think you have died and gone to heaven! There are nine lakes in the area, and all of them have fishing areas, and some of them offer boating, skiing and jet skis. In the winter months you can still fish, as long as the ice is thick enough! Adventurers ready to bundle up and head outdoors find plenty to appreciate in the austere beauty of the winter landscape. With leaves of crimson, copper and gold, fall in Paddock Lake will entice you to stay just a little bit longer. The opportunities to enjoy the fall color are endless. Paddock Lake, along with Trevor and Salem are expanding rapidly, offering so much that families long for - friendly communities, small town feeling, and plenty of things for families to do and get involved in!
