Rice Lake has it all, including many lakes in the area for boating, fishing, swimming or just enjoying nature. There are many snowmobile, cross country skiing and hiking trails that cover hundreds of miles. There is also, a curling club, a gymnastic training center, an 18 hole golf course, a hockey/skating center, a city pool and numerous athletic fields. There are two community theater groups in Rice Lake, The Northern Star Theater Company and The Red Barn Theater. Rice Lake features Lakeview Medical Center and Marshfield Clinic Indianhead Center which has 40+ physicians and 12 specialties.

If you like shopping, Rice Lake is the shopping headquarters for over 1/4 million people. There are WalMart, Shopko, K-Mart, Farm & Fleet, as well as, a mall featuring JC Penney's, Herbergers, Hallmark, Bath and Body Works and other fine stores. There are many antique and specialty stores in the area.

Rice Lake is top notch in education. There are 6 elementary schools, 1 middle school, one high school and a parochial school with grades from pre-school through grade 8. There is a WITC campus and a UW Barron County campus in Rice Lake.
