Collierville, Tennessee
Population: 14,500
Located in Shelby County
Collierville has recently received the designation of being the fastest growing city in the state of Tennessee, with a population of approximately 25,000. The city's residential and commercial development is vigorous, however, time stands still on the recently renovated Historic Town Square. Brick walkways, gazebo, antique and specialty shops, period lighting and a farmer's market preserve the area's charm and history. The Town Square is also host to craft fairs, a Christmas parade, and Dickens on the Square, when the whole area is transformed in the spirit of A Christmas Carol. The Sunset on the Square concert series during the summer features a variety of performers from pop to big band to bluegrass. Collierville is not just about preserving the past. Federal Express is building a new information and technology complex there, Baptist Memorial Hospital is adding a branch, and for recreation Collierville will soon have its own YMCA and 16-screen Malco Theater. While Collierville has a number of shopping centers, the shopping environment is on the upswing with numerous centers in the planning stages. With all of its vigorous growth and numerous activities, Collierville remains a stable place to raise your children. Crime is low, while academic achievement is high. Collierville's public school system, with three elementary, one middle school with a second in the planning stage, and a high school is considered to be one of the best in the country.
