Local burger chef, Fletcher Davis represented Athens at the world's fair in 1904 and introduced his hamburgers to the world. Athens celebrates each year with the Fletcher Davis Hamburger Cook-off. Another festival held each year in July is the Black-Eyed Pea Jamboree, celebrating Athens heritage in agriculture, paying tribute to the black-eyed pea.
