Bunker Hill Village, Texas

Bunker Hill Village is an incorporated suburban community adjacent to Hedwig Village and Piney Point Village on the western edge of Houston, south of U.S. Highway 90, Interstate Highway 10, and the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad in southwestern Harris County.

Earlier, German farmers had settled in the area and local residents established sawmills to cut timber. The 1936 county highway map showed scattered dwellings in the area near one of several sawmills. But it wasn't until 1954 that Bunker Hill was officially founded, and platted and created its own government.

Today the community of Bunker Hill offers a quiet, wooded environment, and as a community, they work hard to preserve it for future generations. It is located in a truly unique area, and as Houston continues to grow, the environment in the Memorial Villages has become one that has become very popular.

The Memorial Villages include Bunker Hill, Piney Point, Hunters Creek Hedwig, Hilshire, and Spring Valley. These are all exclusive villages, offering an affluent style of life, and higher than average home prices. The average home price is $921,741 while houses range from $435,000 to $1,650,000. Housing types available are primarily Single Family.

The Spring Branch Independent School District is one of the most highly rated districts in the state. Elementary age children attend Frostwood, Bunker Hill or Memorial Drive Elementary. Each of these schools is excellent. The middle schools that serve the village are Memorial Middle School to the west and Spring Branch Middle School on Piney Point Road. The senior high school is Memorial High School that provides a very competitive environment for those who plan to attend college. Several of these schools have received National Exemplary School recognition.

Just minutes away is the exciting city of Houston! While in the heart of the city, visit Sam Houston Park, where historical homes are nestled next to skyscrapers, or Bayou Place, a dynamic destination for dining, movies and live entertainment. And don't miss the nearby Downtown Aquarium, offering not only a world of marine life, but also fun restaurants and amusements. A few minutes away you'll find the wildlife retreat at the Houston Arboretum, near Memorial Park.

Head north to visit Traders Village, the country's largest outdoor market, Mercer Arboretum, another back-to-nature excursion, or Sam Houston Race Park to "play the ponies." That's also the direction that takes you to Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Houston's ultimate outdoor stage. Just southeast of the city, the San Jacinto Monument stands tall in tribute to the heroes of the Texas Revolution, while another step back in time is southwest of town, at George Ranch Historical Park, a working ranch and museum.

The northwest corner of downtown marks Houston's roots, where the original town plat was laid out by the founding fathers in 1836. Many of the residential and commercial façades have been preserved and marked for historical significance in the area designated as the Downtown Historic District.

Bunker Hill Village is the perfect place to lay your hat at the end of the day, with proximity to Houston, Galveston, South Padre Island, and only two hours from San Antonio and six to Dallas, this little village has it all!
