Terrell began as a "depot town" along the railroad line from Longview, Texas to California. It was first developed in 1873 by landowners led by Robert A. Terrell. More cotton was shipped from Terrell during this time than from any other place in the world!
The town today is known as the "the city of tomorrow with the charm of yesterday." It is the largest city in Kaufman County located just 25 miles east of Dallas on Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 30. Terrell's excellent location in north Texas has allowed major industrial growth and economic development.

Terrell also boasts state-of-the-art heath care services at the Medical Center at Terrell with two campuses and the Terrell State Hospital for psychiatric treatment.
The city of Terrell has much to offer and features a turn of the century downtown, historic homes, a modern outlet mall and new construction.
