Huntsville is one of three small communities comprising what is known as "Ogden Valley," and is the only incorporated town of the three; the other two communities are Eden and Liberty. Huntsville is located twelve miles east of Ogden City up Ogden Canyon. Its elevation is just under 5,000 feet.

Beaches, birding, biking, and boating are popular activities at Antelope Island State Park. Located at the base of the beautiful Wasatch Mountains, Huntsville offers scenic back-ways, high mountain camping and trails. Within one hour of Huntsville are nationally renowned ski areas for winter sports. Many are sites for the 2002 Winter Olympics. These nearby mountains provide summer activities including fishing, hiking, backpacking, boating and camping.
Whatever your definition for enjoyment is, you can find it here in Huntsville, "Gateway to the Great Salt Lake." Play golf at one of many fine golf courses, catch a thrill at Lagoon Amusement Park and Pioneer Village, get wet at Cherry Hill Resort and Lagoon-A-Beach.
The climate in Utah makes wonderful provision to enjoy the outdoors. The spring and summer temperature's rest in the 70's - 80's barely touching the low 90's in August, and the mercury stays in the mid to high 30's during the winter months. This of course makes for wonderful outdoor recreation. Golf, mountain biking, hiking and camping are wonderful recreational activities that can be enjoyed for a good part of the year. If skiing is your choice of sport, both Powder Mountain and Snow Basin are wonderful ski areas located nearby.
Huntsville is located near the Antelope Island State Park. Access to this distinctive park is by a 7.2-mile causeway. It is worth the drive because as the island is home to a heard of 600 bison! Also roaming the plains and bluffs are deer, coyotes, antelope, and bighorn. Waterfowl and shorebirds find their place in this safe haven. Amenities at the park include camping, picnicking, hiking and other seasonal activities.
Located not too far is Salt Lake City. As host to the 2002 Winter Olympics, Salt Lake City has it all. Whether you are looking for a relaxed evening in the professional sports area or prefer the symphony, Salt Lake City is definitely the place to hang out and has something for every member of the family.
If higher education is on the agenda, both Westminster College and University of Phoenix are among the 4-year institutions. Also, among the excellent colleges is the University of Utah, which is the largest research and teaching school in the state. This University is nationally known and respected for its medical and law schools.
