Located along the banks of the Great Salt Lake is the cozy city of Syracuse, Utah. Syracuse has a history of dairy farming but today the city itself is rapidly changing from a farming community toward a more urban flavor. Although Syracuse has a population of approximately 14,000, this city has life! Summertime is chocked full of activities as Syracuse celebrates Heritage Days. This festival is a buzz with parades; art projects for children, golf tournament, and even a car show are just a few of the events of the summer. In the fall the Buffalo Days Celebration is underway with a weekend full of family activities. In 1969 a 7.2-mile causeway was built for improved transportation from the city of Syracuse to Antelope Island State Park. This has brought an influx of tourists to the heart of Syracuse. Antelope Island is over 28,000 acres of rugged beauty. This particular island is also home to a heard of 600 bison that roam the plains and bluffs. Other wildlife that live on the island include antelope, bighorn, deer, coyotes, waterfowl and shorebirds. The amenities at the park consist of camping, picnicking, and other seasonal activities. It seems everywhere you turn; there is a breathtaking view of the mountains. This of course makes for wonderful outdoor recreation, especially if you enjoy skiing, mountain biking, and hiking! The climate in Utah makes wonderful provision to enjoy the outdoors. The spring and summer temperature's rest in the 70's - 80's barely touching the low 90's in August, and the mercury stays in the mid to high 30's during the winter months. Syracuse is just a 30-minute drive north from Salt Lake City. Home to the 2002 winter Olympics, Salt Lake City has it all. If you are looking for an evening watching professional sports or prefer the ballet, this city is full of life and has something for every member of the family. Westminster College and University of Phoenix are among the 4-year educational institutions in Salt Lake City. Also, among finer colleges is the University of Utah, which is the largest research and teaching school in the state. This University is nationally known and respected for its medical and law schools.

Like many other locations in Utah, Syracuse homes started appreciating in value at a faster pace in 2005. According to the Wasatch Front Regional Multiple Listing Service, the average price of a single family residence increased by 7.6% in the first quarter of 2005 ($194,348), as compared to the first quarter of 2004 ($185,126).
